Alongside our webshop, we are delighted to offer an educational service working with young people in schools, youth groups and universities, predominantly in South and West Yorkshire, but are more than happy to discuss opportunities to work in new places!

Our educational work is a very important and enjoyable part of what we do and we have been co-ordinating and running successful learning activities for children and young people from ages 5-18 around Fair Trade and other global issues for the past 7 years.

We work with schools, tying in with the National Curriculum, as well as with more informal youth groups. Our workshops are tailored for the needs of those we work with and have ranged in length from one hour to a number of regular sessions over a longer period of time. We use resources and activities created through our work with co-operatives and producers of the ethical items we sell, to bring the issues of Fair Trade, Recycling and Ethical Enterprise to young people in an engaging, real and creative way.

Here’s a taste of what we can offer:

• Assemblies (either leading one or working with a small group of children to assist them in leading)

Lessons on Fair Trade using the real-life stories of the producers we work with. These can incorporate Art, DT, Geography, Citizenship and English if and where required (Single lesson, half a day or full day options available

• Afterschool club providing Fair Trade activities

• Extra-curricular days providing Fair Trade activities

• Creative multi-school projects, bringing children together from different schools to learn, create and peer educate

• Enterprise kits – your students can set up their own Fair Trade business with Fair Grounds products and stories

• Inter-faith projects, bringing together young people from different faith backgrounds to explore issues of Fair Trade and make a difference as active global citizens

• Work with schools to achieve Fairtrade school status

We also enjoy working with adults and can offer:

• Creative workshops for adults with learning disabilities

• Talks and workshops for monthly meetings (WI, Mother’s Union etc)
